Main Street South Carolina Accreditation Municipal Association of South Carolina

Project Overview

Established in 1983, Main Street South Carolina is a comprehensive revitalization program that promotes the historic and economic redevelopment of traditional business districts throughout the state. Main Street SC is a technical assistance program of the Municipal Association of South Carolina and is endorsed by the National Main Street Center. Studio Main assisted Main Street South Carolina in the National Main Street Accreditation process for the City of Laurens, City of Greenwood, City of Aiken, and City of Orangeburg.

Studio Main led each community through a series of presentations, board meetings, and program review to evaluate accreditation criteria and to provide recommendations for improvements.  The purpose of the annual Main Street South Carolina year-end assessment and evaluation visit is to recognize program accomplishments made during the previous year, to address and discuss additional district issues, and to eliminate barriers to achieving your work plan goals and activities.

Each community receiving accreditation received summary recommendations for continued improvement:
