Swamp Rabbit Trail Southern Extensions Greenville County, SC

Project Overview

Studio Main was hired by Greenville County to provide design, engineering, and permitting of the Swamp Rabbit Trail from Laurens Road to the Clemson University of Automotive Research (CUICAR).

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 20+-mile multi-use trail system that runs along the Reedy River connecting Greenville County with schools, parks, and local businesses. Sponsored by Prisma Health, the Swamp Rabbit Trail will continue to grow throughout the city and county offering fun, nonmotorized recreation and transportation opportunities. To build upon the success of the trail, Studio Main was procured to provide professional engineering, landscape architecture, and permitting services to connect Cleveland Park to CUICAR. Working with stakeholders, including the City of Greenville, Greenville County, GCEDC, and property owners, Studio Main developed construction drawings for the portions of the future greenway that were owned by GCEDC. The engineering and permitting included providing connections to existing bicycle and pedestrian facilities along Verdae Boulevard and proposed protected bicycle lanes along West Washington Street at Laurens Road/Cleveland Park.

Studio Main led Greenville County through a 6 month Planning and Design process that included:

  • City/County Stakeholder Meetings
  • Cost Estimating
  • City of Greenville/SCDHEC/SCDOT Permitting
  • Construction Documentation
